Three copies, three different wraps
Painting used to work per kind of part. If your pet had three of the same body, painting one painted all three. That was fine for the first version and increasingly annoying after that.
Now each copy carries its own. Put six wings on a pet and give every one a different UV wrap, or paint two and leave four bare — the app keeps track of which is which, and it survives saving, re-opening, and undo.
It doesn’t cost you anything in file size either. Copies sharing the same artwork still share one texture in the export, so a pet with four of one wrap and two of another ships two images, not six.
Two notes on older files:
- A pet where every copy of a part is painted the same still saves in the old format, and still opens in older versions of the app.
- A pet that genuinely uses different wraps on different copies needs 0.1.4 or newer. Older builds — including 0.1.3 — refuse that file rather than opening it and quietly flattening the assignment on the next save. Refusing is the behavior I’d rather have.
Field-tested in Roblox Studio and Blender before it shipped. The bit I got wrong twice: the button appeared before the thing behind the button worked. A control that lies is worse than one that isn’t there yet.
